February 17, 2009
6:30 pmto9:30 pm

Lund Manor will be hosting our first radio night of 2009 on Tuesday February 17th.

The night’s programming will include episodes of the Sealtest Variety Show from the late 1940’s. This show was frequently referred to as the “Dorothy Lamour Show” after its host, but true name comes from the sponsor, Sealtest Ice Cream.

Comedy, songs and some great commercial spots!

Cocktails from 6:30, with the radio show starting at 8pm.

Wheregoes that old fence?

January 19th, 2009, 10:02 pm by Scott

We finally pulled down the old fence from around the front yard at the manor.  The high winds from a last week blowing out several boards really drove home that the fence was simply no longer viable.  Thayer has some cool plans for a new fence line too which we’ll post about once it gets underway.

The cool thing is that we posted on craigslist about the old fence boards, and sure enough they found a home.  Check out http://www.bryanappletondesigns.com in the near future and you might just find something made from the old redwood planks from our fence.  I say nifty!

Inauguration Day Open House at Lund Manor

January 8th, 2009, 12:30 pm by Scott
January 20, 2009

On Tuesday January 20th Barack Obama will take the oath of office.

It will be open house at Lund Manor all day long, so stop by any time.
We will be tuned to TVOne all day long for the best coverage.

As specified by the U.S. Constitution (20th Amendment), presidential terms of office begin and end at 12:00 noon on January 20. That means 9am for us west coast folks. Obama will address the nation shortly after taking the oath.

You are welcome to come by early and watch the address, or stop by later in the day for a cocktail.

Lund Manor has a Radio

January 3rd, 2009, 1:19 pm by Scott

After a long time searching, we came across this beautiful Grigsby Grunow Majestic 90 at an antique lamp shop in Alameda. We are very grateful to have been in the right place at the right time and have this fantastic radio come our way.

It is not functional. But that is perfect for us. Here are a few other snaps. Ginger Mel thinks she can get it working again….

The partial paper sticker from the inside gives us the model # and the metal tag is on the radio chassis. This is a Grigsby Grunow Radio, the model is Majestic 90. Research shows The Grigsby-Grunow Company existed  from 1928-1933.

We’ll post more information as we dig it up.

For now, very very excited!

Next Radio Night will be in November

October 21st, 2008, 9:06 am by Scott

I had hoped to pull off a radio night before Halloween, but alas, that won’t happen.

The next radio night will be in November.  Stay tuned for actual date and time.

Lull Manor?

August 13th, 2008, 8:57 am by Scott

As you can tell, we put radio nights on hold for a bit.  The living room is just too hot to stuff with people.  We’ll get rolling again, probably in September.
